I did it! I started an Etsy store!

This is just one of the fab four items I've got for sale in my new shop. I named the shop "Steampunk Saints", for reasons you will better understand when you CLICK HERE.

Go! Check it out! Read the descriptions! Laugh at my witty banter! Look at my cool Mental Meatloaf-ish steampunk banner! Tell all your friends!

And, most importantly, check back often for new items, as I have a couple in the works right now and I hope that the sale of the ones I have up now will pay for the future projects, making this hobby a self-sufficient enterprise while bringing a little steampunk into the homes of people all across America.

I have to say I feel a bit proud of myself right now for actually meeting my goal of starting an Etsy store... even if nobody buys anything, it's still OUT THERE, you know? OUT THERE. Kind of like me.

The banner looks great. Good luck with your store and well done for making it happen!
I was inspired to check out exactly what steam punk is in Wikipedia at last - we're in the back of beyond here and way out of touch!! - it made me think of the Golden Compass series of children's books...

That's EXACTLY it! There are several popular movies which embrace the steampunk genre:

1. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
2. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
3. Sleepy Hollow (with Johnny Depp)
4. The Illusionist
5. Harry Potter series (Dumbledore's office in particular)

I had to look up steampunk in Wikipedia too after I discovered your blog, and now I'm really enjoying it. I love the details in Dumbledore's office in Harry Potter - now I will really be wanting to linger there.

Your Etsy store looks great - I really like your Steampunk Jesus - it just makes me smile.

Would you consider the Borg in Star Trek to be sort of futuristic steampunk?

Well done! The site looks great. Fingers crossed that the sales start rolling in. But like you said, much of it is just about being brave enough to say "look world: Ta-da!"
