A Wonderful (Non-Holiday Related) Family Film!

First, my peeps, JUST LOOK AT THE CAST.  Really, at this point, you can just shut off your computer and head to your local video rental place, or dial up NetFlix, or whatever your movie acquisition company of choice may be.

For my part, once Judi Dench is involved, I don't need any more information.  It's guaranteed good stuff.  But add in Maggie effin' Smith, Bill effin' Nighy, and the rest, and seriously... what can you expect but amazingness?

This is absolutely a family-friendly film, and even though it deals with a few serious situations, it does so in a kind and thoughtful way, always lightening the mood at the proper moments with bits of humor that keep things from getting morbid.

Bear and I got it from our library and watched it the other night, and we've had smiles plastered on our faces for two days straight!

  2. Sounds like it's going to be our Chrisrmas Eve film. Did you know that's the only night Jo and I consciously arrange to sit down and watch a film! Watching Witnail three times already this year has been a major change to my entertainement habits.

  3. Now , this looks much more suitable for pensioners' viewing .
I keep on hearing how good it is .... and so does everyone else in town . It's out on loan permanently!

  4. B.U. - will see if it's in at the library!

S.S. - Holy cats, we'll make an addict of you yet! 8-)

S&S - Oh, that reminds me of a line from Withnail... "There's a miserable little pensioner down there and she wouldn't give it to me" (Marwood was after wood and coal, and some eggs and things). Pensioner is apparently the British term for "retiree". 8-)
