Marcheline's Beauty Tips: Episode 43
Even Lady Sybil Crawley of Downton Abbey needs help keeping her luscious lips supple during the cruel month of February, so I feel no shame in admitting that my own were brutally chapped after shoveling snow today.
The thought of slathering on regular tube lip balm did not appeal, as it's too thick and my lips were really sore, so instead I slipped a fingertip into my Pond's cold cream jar and ran it round my pie hole.
Like magic, the stuff soaked right in and left my lips as soft as a baby's, without any greasy residue. And I've always loved the way cold cream smells, so there it was right under my nose where I could best enjoy it.
One of the main ingredients of cold cream is bee's wax, and we all know what a great natural beauty product that is... so I shouldn't have been at all surprised to find that cold cream makes a fab winter lip saver!

My Mum used Pond's cold cream. It's one of those products that goes way back.
ReplyDeleteIt's one of those things which I love to use for its own sake, as well as the memories from my childhood of my mom using it. Egads, I feel like a commercial!
DeleteP.S. I keep meaning to remark about the blatant sexism of your new header. So why should it be a man this time that finds it so hard to make mental meatloaf? Could you not find a picture of a woman cooking?? (Good job your wooden spoon won't reach this far or I'd feel it smack across my head.)
DeleteSS - Alas, finding a picture of a woman cooking is far, far too easy. I always like to set myself the difficult task. 8-)
DeleteThanks M....I feel the need to go and buy some now.
ReplyDeleteThe jar I just bought has a lid which totally matches the current palette of this blog. 8-)
DeleteMy grandmother used Pond's cold cream. I loved the jar itself as much as the cream. I hope they still make the heavy porcelain version.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they make them any more but there are loads for sale on ebay! Come to think of it, I may buy one and transfer my new cream into a vintage jar. That would be fab!
